Tons of translating and discussion these 2 days paid off with good Food.

Let’s see. Had Hot Xian Cao yesterday afternoon after whole morning of translating.

And today…

Boss of my Boss aka my Big Boss came over and treat all of us a good one. I think there are more than 10 dishes!!!

Not to mention every one of us including me got a red packet.

Then… Boss ask everyone to sing K in the afternoon after lunch.

And at night… Tiramisu cake!!!

Cold and Work

I look up in the sky again and still the rain is dropping.

If I know it can get this cold here, I could have brought thicker clothes here.

And yes, it’s still freezing that I have hide under a small blanket the whole day.

Half way through finish up translating stuff for the society.

But still, there are so many things I need deal with.

Look like I’m sleeping late tonight.

But internet connection back in my room is still down…

Even teachers are making noise because it is very inconvenient…

Wish things can be better soon…

Van and Kat, don’t need to worry about me.

Merry Christmas

Day 12 + Day 7, 8, 9

Day 12

Went and buy flowers who boss again but it’s in a different place as compare to last time. The place is bloody big, a lot of workers and luckily the price is not high also. I got no idea what are the names of the plants so I can’t describe the plants. Then went and take a look at some wood work which is popular at that place that we went. Well, boss seems to be impress but to me… nothing special. I got no interest in this area. Boss brought me to a mini train museum where they showcase around 10 old trains. Went back to the office and rest before we had a meeting with a restaurant owner regarding how to handle a VIP who will be coming this Sat and Sun. Gosh, he showed us an event which is held at his place last Sat, the day which I waste my time from day to night. Gosh, food, people and surrounding is so nice!!! Then we went around Shi Tan looking for new place to show our VIP. We even travel into some jungle for a couple of hours but sadly, we couldn’t find any. However, I do learn a lot from traveling in the woods which at least satisfied me. Hope to my boss out with the VIP tomorrow!!!

Day 7

Didn’t sleep yesterday night because it is way too cold and I only have a towel like blanket to use. Was using computer the whole and didn’t eat anything while the clock is pointing at 6pm. I headed back to Benny’s hostel and rest after that (I didn’t go back to Hsin Chu) and the following take place:

Benny: Yi Hong, wanna go Taipei?

Yi Hong: Yes, tomorrow going

Benny: I mean now

Yi Hong: Ok la, no problem.

Then we are off to Taipei. We ride scooter to the bus station and took a bus to Taipei.

While on the bus, I experience an earthquake which I though is the bus driver who cause the whole bus to shake. We realize it is a minor earthquake after Benny’s mum called and tell us about it.

I chat with my friends and then this friend of mine scares me out by saying there’s going to be a big earthquake. Then she asked to pack food, water and my luggage and prepare for it. Well, I react by going to sleep because I’m too tired.

Day 8

Woke up at 11 something and yes I had the nicest sleep ever since I come over to Taiwan. Meet up with the rest of the interns and have Japanese lunch before walking around the area.

Then we took MRT to Q Mall right beside the bus central. There are too many people and we are just walking and decided to sit down and chit chat. We had out dinner before all of us leave one by one. I went to the computer lab and use the computer there until 1 something in the morning.

Day 9

Didn’t have a good sleep again. Woke up and went straight to take the bus to the railway station but I just missed the bus. The next bus is at 12:20 according to the time table. Went to the computer lab again and back to the bus station at around 12. Waited until 1 which is when the bus FINALLY arrived. Then the bus ticket cost 15 and I throw in 50 and waited for the change. Then only the bus driver told me the machine won’t give any change back.

Got a call from Katherine when I just got into the train. She told me she is visiting me but I have a party to attend. It is a part held by one of my work mate.  Then she called up my boss and told him they are picking me up. So I’m officially out of the party. Luckily my boss is good enough to pack some food and meet me at the station. Then he decided to bring all of us to the society office since Kat and her friend doesn’t know the way there. On our way there, boss saw a bird getting knock by a car. This remind me of Long (my friend) who says he knock a chicken while he is driving. But this time, that bird is seriously death as my boss stop at the side of the road and check out the bird. I even manage to snap a few pictures before we resume our journey. Boss show Kat and her friend around the office after we reach while I had my lunch with a few weird and exotic animals meat. They leave at around 4:50pm and I make my way back to my hostel.

Day 11 + Day 4,5,6

Day 11

Feel so productive today!!! Learn how to make 3 interesting home made items and manage to finish translate a weird signboard information into English. My work is going to appear on a signboard!!! 

Looking forward to a better tomorrow.

Day 4

Woke up and went straight to take a free bus from Shi Tan (my place) to Miao Li Railway station but I get off the bus at the wrong place. So I have to walk and find the station. Boss (Mr. Lee/Lizard) called and picked me up before we went for breakfast. It is some Taiwan traditional breakfast food.

Meet up with his friend after that and we drove all the way to a place near to Taipei but not Taipei. I was playing with boss friend’s daughter along the way. She’s so cute!!! Don’t get me wrong, she’s only around 3 or 4 :P

Saw a lorry full with FAT pigs. That’s something you can’t see in Malaysia.

Boss was buying a lot of flower pot and I’m just looking around. Saw cute dogs and cats too.

Had dinner in a vegetarian restaurant which serve delicious food and it is funny when another couple came in. They look at what we eat and even order what we order. Can’t describe how it is like during that situation in words.

After that, boss brought me to meet my work mate for the 1^st time. I’m officially the youngest there. The one closest to me is a guy who is 26 years old.

I planted a plant which I got no idea is what before making my way back to the hostel just to find out the internet is down and I got no access to internet.

Day 5

Ah Ping Ge (work mate) fetch up to a jungle early in the morning. It is another place owned by Natural and Ecology Society of Miao Li (the NGO which I work for). So it is a place where they try to keep it as natural as it is. There are even big snakes in the jungle and weird plants which they took from somewhere and planted in the jungle. So my work mate just tidy up some stuff and beautified a rest house in the jungle. And that’s it for today at this jungle.

Boss brought me to buy my sim card and we had economy rice for lunch before we meet up with a principal. He asked me to teach the students English and see if I can help them score higher cause the student here hates English so much. Headed back to the society office (near the school) after that. I manage to ask boss regarding my JD and what I can do so finally I got my JD!!!

At night, I went out with the teachers to eat Taiwan traditional food (according to a teacher), ginger female duck. It is so weird tonight as my eyes is super red. Similar to the shirt that I’m wearing tonight.

Day 6

Wash my clothes before I make my way to society office. Today I’m going to mandarin orange yard. I took a lot of picture to the extent that my camera battery ran out when we are not even half way there. By the way, we are walking there. We drank some homemade wine made by the yard’s owner when we reach there.

We had lunch at the yard’s owner’s wife’s food stall after we come down. Spend the afternoon watching some sort of movie regarding earth and nature. Then 3 aunties (work mate) bring me to the station and teach me how to buy the train ticket and where to go because I have a welcome party in Hsin Chu (where the lc is) later at night. It’s a bit weird because I have to travel so far for my welcome party. Anyway, a friend picked me up at the train station to the place where the welcome party is being held.

Welcome part is normal but I’ll say “well done” to those who organize the party here. The last session of the night is some sort of sugar cube session expects the messages are written on a paper with a Christmas sock shape.

Intro and Day 10

It's already my tenth day in Taiwan and this is my 1st post. But I've wrote down what had happen to me since i came to Taiwan and i'm going to post it all up in this blog. But posting what had happen since i came here in 1 post will make this post way too long. So here's how i'm going to divide it.

1st Post = Day 10 + Day 1, 2 and 3
2nd Post = Day 11 + Day 4, 5 and 6
3rd Post = Day 12 + Day 7, 8 and 9
4th Post onward = What had happen to me from Day 13 onwards

So here's the 1st Post:

Day 10 

Was working on an ugly map until boss asks me and Ah Ping (Work mate) to attend a meeting he is in. Too bad I only understand 40% of the content. Had lunch before I continue working on the map. I seriously feel its way too ugly. Anyway, after drawing, instead of coloring it, I work on translating stuff into English because I’m too fed up with the ugly map. I spend of much time focusing on it yet it is progressing way too slow.

While translating, boss send me some stuff for me to check. Ah Ping and I were laughing so loud while I’m reading and explaining. The English is too funny!!! Here’s an example:

1)      The fish swing in the river.

2)      Little fish swing more

Those 2 are only some of the many examples. And what makes it even funnier is they plan to use this information and produce two huge sign board. I can’t imagine what will happen to foreigners who came and read that information. They might look at the river for swinging fishes.

Ah Ping went back at 5 but I stayed back to clear my emails and to work on my blog (Creating a new blog and writing this post).

Anyway  I want Tang Yuan!!! And I want to celebrate Chirstmas!!!

Day 1

Mum and dad fetch me to airport early in the morning. After having breakfast, I do all the que-ing up and get into the plane. So this is the part where everyone will be asking how I feel. So how do I feel? I don’t bloody feel a thing. Like seriously, I feel nothing.

It is so boring in the plant and I almost want to take my laptop out and play DOTA in the plane.

After getting my luggage, I walk out and look for the group of people who are suppose to receive me. I saw them I gave them no reaction as I walk past them. Why I do that and where I walk to next? I did that because they were cam whoring that time and where I walk to? Behind them and get myself in to the picture they take. After that, then only they realize I’m behind them and is in the picture. So yes, mission accomplished.

We had dinner after we reach Benny’s (a friend) house by taking bus and train. Dinner is actually quite expensive as it cost 160 Taiwan Dollar.

Then I walk around the university after the expensive dinner. There’s a grocery shop outside the dorm and there were dogs walk in and out and even sleep in the middle of the entrance because there’s carpet over there. 2 carpet = 2 dogs, yes.

After I meet up with Katherine, we headed to the AIESEC office and hang out there for a while before I was invited to join CTLC Executive Board Meeting. Similar style as the one we had in TUC.

So that’s the end of Day 1.

Day 2

Since my laptop battery is out and the plug converter which I brought here is not the right one, I have nothing to do but to rot until my roommate asks me to go out for lunch. Thank god lunch cost me only RM7.50. I had beef rice and winter melon drink.

Benny fetches me out to get my plug converter along with a few stuff which he needed.

Feels so much better as I’m used to my laptop so quiet sometimes already.

Continue surfing the net after dinner as Benny have exam tomorrow and don’t have time to bring me out.

Day 3

Went to the university’s library which has around 5 to 6 level and each level is very big. What I did in the library is preparing the LUCT’s election booklet and application booklet and finished it before I went for lunch with the Non Corp team members.

I went back to the dorm, online and rest for a while until the TN came and fetch me. So I’m finally in the place which I’m going to stay in for almost 3 months. It’s a lower high school which means standard 1 to 3 in Malaysia. It has only 76 students but it’s very big which has a running field, computer lab, library and so on. I drop my luggage there and went out for dinner with the TN in the village. I’m staying in a place which is very small. Hope I won’t find it boring here.

I had a meal which is just ok for me and had Snoke Flake style dessert. It has cincau and taro balls too. After dinner, I went back to my room and started sweeping and mopping the floor. I don’t have the cloth to wipe the cupboard, tables and chair as there’s no cloth available here. So the room is not 100% clean yet.

Then I sit down and face another troublesome problem because… it’s so hard to connect to the internet. There’s connection but my laptop is in English and they got no idea how to connect it.

So I shut up and went to bed.
